Nancy Triou has been enjoying Freestyle with her Flat-Coated Retrievers since 1995. After watching a demo by Donna Duford and her wonderful PBGV Chie, Nancy decided that Freestyle was something she had to try with her own dogs. She began training with Donna and eventually began assisting Donna at workshops and classes at Camp Gone to the Dogs. Nancy is currently teaching a Freestyle class at Tails U Win in Manchester, CT.
Nancy and her dogs participate in Freestyle primarily because it is so much fun, it is a wonderful way to increase the bond between dogs and handlers, and it improves training skills and atte
ntion. Although they have occasionally participated in Freestyle competitions, they prefer performing at demos, fundraisers, convalescent homes, and schools. They also enjoy introducing people to the sport at workshops. When they are not doing Freestyle, Nancy and her dogs compete in various AKC events. They have earned multiple titles in Conformation, Obedience, Rally, Agility and are currently learning Tracking.
Nancy is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, the World Canine Freestyle Organization, the Unleashed Dance Company, the Musical Dog Sport Association, the Talcott Mountain Agility Club, and is on the Board of Directors of the Northeast Flat-Coated Retriever Club.
